First step to understanding supernatural living is knowing who you are in Christ. You are in fact a spirit with a soul in a body. Your soul includes your mind, thoughts, emotions, and a will to choose. You were born with individual talents, gifts, personality, dreams and desires.
Secondly, you need to realize and believe there’s an Eternal Mighty God who made you and really does love you. He is a good, good Father even if your earthly dad may have fell short of being that example. Let me explain, I am not advocating for religion here but instead a relationship with Jesus, the Son of the One True God, and with the Helper, Holy Spirit. This is where you decide with your will to choose to believe in this or not. I guarantee you, your questions about life’s purpose will make more sense if you do. Or if you choose not to believe and go your own way, more than likely, the journey will take a lot longer with frustration until you figure it out.
Thirdly, after this acceptance and understanding of who made you, then you need to hear His gentle voice and know His heart through spending time with Him. It’s same way you know a friend by spending time together. Take time in the Scriptures (Word of God) to find out the characteristics of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit who guides you with wisdom and instructions. They made you in their ” image” so you have same qualities as them! If you accept Jesus as Lord ( first in your life) and Savior (one who saves from death) then you are adopted into His family. We are His kids! You are then a child of God. If you are His child you will hear His voice. You may ask “How?”.
- Get a journal and each day ask God a question, pray for wisdom, be quiet, then start writing down what comes into your mind. Your heart ( spirit & soul ) and brain are connected. He knows your thoughts because He is spirit too and created you from Himself. Speak to Jesus like he ‘s your best friend and right next to you. Ask what gifts, talents or interests He placed in you.
2. Pay attention to your surroundings too which is another way He will speak to you. God places people in your day that may answer your questions. He teaches you to listen. Certain songs may come on the radio where He encourages you. Certain events could take place that were unexpected. Journal and date these. Remember He will encourage, teach, inspire, etc. not condemn or shame you ( that is your flesh or the enemy).
