Spring time is a season so beautiful with an array of brilliant, bold colors. We see it displayed on trees, flowers, animals, insects and even in the sky, taking the form of rainbows, sunsets, or aurora borealis (northern lights). Spring represents new beginnings, new life, new found energy of expectation for warm weather, new births, and yes, for some, spring cleaning!
Spring allows us to “spring into action”. You’ll have to excuse the play on words. Ha ha! Just as there are seasons in nature, so are seasons in our spiritual lives. I think of the popular and well used bible verse in Ecclesiastes.
Ecclesiastes 3: 1-14 ” For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:…”. vs 2 ” a time to be born (new births), and a time to die” (a death of something); a time to plant (sow seed), and a time to pluck up what is planted (harvest) and the list goes on. (Words in parenthesizes are my interpretation). Consider reading all verses for more revelation.
Now, doesn’t it sound like a comparison of spring and winter seasons? It’s the revealing of opposites and parallels, in the natural and spiritual realms. Spring is a time to plant seeds or what i would call new ideas, goals, desires and dreams. God has planted “seeds” in you with ideas, desires, gifts and talents for a season of revealing of your identity and purpose.
What I like most is what is stated in Vs 9-11 of Ecclesiastes, ” What gain has the worker from his toil? I have seen the business that God has given to the children of man to be busy with. He has made everything beautiful in it’s time…”. and Vs 12-13 ” I perceived that there is nothing better for them than to be joyful and do good as long as they live; also that everyone should eat and drink and take pleasure in all his toil- this is God’s gift to man”.
Did you catch that? While we discover our own identity and design, enjoy the journey! Whatever you do, do good, eat, drink and take pleasure in your career and help others along the way.
Remember, your interests, hobbies, social personality, and situations you’ve been involved in, reveal some of those seeds the Lord placed in you for a reason.
- Spring into action with your ideas, hopes and dreams.
- Relax and take life day by day, enjoy your labor… it’s a gift from God.
- Journal those ideas right now.
