Life can be a little rocky at times

On the river of life, it may be a little uncertain at times discovering who we are.

So maybe you landed here on this page because you are attempting to find out who you are and why you were born. Perhaps asking yourself, ” Why am I here? What am I suppose to do and be in life?” What career do I choose in college or a job? Honestly, those are loaded questions that have both simple and complex answers.

Of course, every decision we make affects our journey and outcome, whether it’s positively or negatively. Sometimes choices are decided for us or we choose them ourselves with limited knowledge. Our parents may try to mold us into their hopes and dreams for you but ultimately you choose the direction by choices.

Whether you realize it or not, a “Creator and Author” of the earth and all creation around us designed you with natural and spiritual gifts. Our lives should be exciting, exploring our identity and our Creator, God. You have specific and general talents, gifts, interests, passions and purpose placed in you the day you were formed. Let’s find out what they are together.

Your Attributes

“Sunset Fishing” by Brenda K Moore

Did you know that the activities you enjoy and choose, can describe attributes of your character for your career or calling from God?

This young man in the picture, was really enthusiastic about fishing. We spoke for a few minutes, and I realized how patient and persistent you must be, to be a fisherman. I pondered these two characteristics and how profound they are needed in life on our journey to find out who we are, as well as maturing our spiritual character.

These virtues of patience and persistence, are critical in relationships. They are also part of character building and “telling” towards our purpose or place in society. Endurance keeps us heading towards the reward and satisfaction. Our hope is finding that special spot where we “fit in” with our talents. A fisherman’s reward, of course is that big fish to eat. But in the waiting with patience and persistence, he enjoys the peace and beauty around him. What a good reminder for us to do the same in the step by step process towards our destiny.

If you exhibit a personality of self- control, patience, endurance, kindness, etc they are a sure sign that you will naturally be drawn to an occupation or position that requires these same qualities to succeed. Think on what character qualities you have, then ask yourself what business or job/career your interested in, is it a good fit? Or should you consider another role?

2 Chronicles 15:7 “But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.”

Philippians 2:13 “For it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.”

2 Peter 1:5-7  But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control [a]perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love.”

Do you feel hidden in life?

“Hidden for a Time” photo by Brenda K Moore

Through the mundane activities or routine schedules in life, you may feel unnoticed or hidden by people around you. Some of you work hard for a promotion in a job or even in church position but seem to get overlooked by that business boss, supervisor, teacher, pastor, spouse, or even by a friend.

Remember, nothing goes unseen by the Lord. In the waiting for recognition, we must keep our eyes focused on doing good and serving where we are placed for a time or a season. God is maturing you every step of the way. Your skill or position, draws you closer to your “appointed time” for that recognition, success or ministry. Mediate on the encouraging verses below.

Acts 10:38 NASB You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

1 Peter 1:2 TPT ” You are not forgotten, for you have been chosen and destined by Father God.” Holy Spirit has set you apart…..”

Deut 31:8 NIV ” The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

Have a blessed day and never give up! Your time will come!
